EDUCATION & FAQ

Why Weight Loss Becomes So Difficult

It's rarely about effort. It's about biology — measurable, treatable factors that standard programs aren't built to find.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common Questions

Do you prescribe GLP-1 medications?

Yes. Dr. Obi prescribes GLP-1 medications — including semaglutide (Wegovy®, Ozempic®) and tirzepatide (Zepbound®, Mounjaro®) — when clinically appropriate. Every prescription is preceded by a comprehensive physician evaluation. Underlying factors including insulin resistance, hormonal imbalances, and comorbidities are evaluated before and throughout treatment.

Most GLP-1 programs prescribe and monitor basic vitals. NexaCareMD goes further — advanced laboratory panels, body composition tracking, cardiometabolic monitoring, and direct physician oversight throughout your care. When your GLP-1 plateaus, we find the clinical reason and address it. This is what NexaCareMD was designed to manage.

NexaCareMD is for patients whose weight loss has stalled despite medication, who have multiple medical conditions alongside obesity, or who need physician oversight beyond what a standard telehealth prescription service provides. This includes patients with insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, prediabetes, chronic kidney disease, sleep apnea, resistant hypertension, or complex hormonal dysfunction.

NexaCareMD is a 100% telehealth practice. We currently serve patients located in Florida and Alabama. All consultations, follow-ups, and care management take place virtually — from wherever you are.

NexaCareMD is a membership-based practice and does not bill insurance. Membership fees cover physician-led care, lab review, and ongoing management. Some lab costs may be covered by your insurance depending on your plan. Documentation can be provided upon request for self-submission to your insurer.

Submit your application through our contact page. Our team will review your information and schedule a consultation with Dr. Obi. She will review your history, current medications, labs, and goals before building your personalized care plan.
